Memorial Service For Rugby Legend: A public memorial service for rugby legend Joost van der Westhuizen who passed away after a lengthy battle with motor neuron diseasewill be held at Loftus Versveld in Pretoria on Friday. His brother, Pieter van der Westhuizen, confirmed the details of the memorial service that will be held at Loftus on Friday, saying they want South Africa to say goodbye to a legend. “Our beloved brother, son, father and best friend, Joost Heystek van der Westhuizen was a hero to the nation, our family, and everyone he met,” Pieter said. “We have had amazing support from rugby players, dignitaries and friends from all over the word. We appreciate the nation’s support in this difficult time,” he said.

The memorial service will start at Loftus at 12:30 and will be open to the public.  No further details about the memorial have been made public. “We ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time,” Peter concluded.
